When you choose to host your wedding indoors, but love the woodland aesthetic, you have an innumerable amount of options to bring the woodland feel inside! We hosted a beautiful wedding last summer, and we're in love with the way we transformed the venue to complete our couple's wedding vision. In this blog, we'll share ideas to help bring the woodland aesthetic to your indoor wedding.
Nearly a year prior, Luke and Samantha chose to hold their intimate wedding at The Loft of Elements Preserved. Last June, 2023, all the planning and coordinating came together! Samantha had a very clear vision for the wedding, and one very important aspect was a "woodland" theme, on the tables, and for her personal floral, as well as the backdrop! Include the same touches for flatlay photos; those detail shots are priceless!
Add Texture:
Janet Gallagher, owner of Designs by Janet, LLC, decorated each of our farm tables with pieces of fresh moss, scattered down the center, rather than a cloth runner or full table linen. We incorporated brass candleholders and ivory candles throughout the tablescape, as well.
Organic Colors:
Other ideas to bring out a woodland look included the use of the color green, for seating for their sweetheart table, our Fiona Louis XV Style Armchairs. We paired this package with a large cellar bottle filled with pampas grass. The sweetheart table coordinated with the other farm tables with mossy accents.
Add Color to your Dining Tables:
Each of the farm tables were styled with colorful vintage goblets, all woven throughout the tablescape, each place setting having a different color than the one next to it. Dish and Decor Vintage Rental provided place settings, flatware, colored goblets, and pink depression ware for sweets and charcuterie apps!
Samantha chose a free-standing look for the ceremony area floral, using twigs, fresh greens, vines, and lots of floral carefully woven throughout each installation.
To increase the woodland aesthetic, here are a few more suggestions we might make:
Use of our PB wooden lanterns with galvanized tops, 2 sets of 3 beautiful lanterns!
We also have wooden risers in our inventory, which were used for the charcuterie display. Adding distinct touches of wood to your catering set up brings in that outdoor woodland feel, as well.
Another suggestion is using wood rounds on your tables for each of your candles or bud vases to perch on. Surround each with more moss!
Create a beautiful entry using loads of carefully placed moss sections, with pillar candles placed atop wood rounds and tree trunk sections; this would be beautiful on a stairway leading to the venue entry.
Create small terrariums and fill each with moss and a carefully placed votive candle; a beautiful tabletop lighting option.
We hope this inspiration is helpful in envisioning a "woodland" aesthetic, even for your indoor wedding! Nothing is out of reach, when it comes to creating a look that matches your vision, whether it's your backdrop, tabletop decor, sweetheart or table design.
Curating your wedding vision is truly one of the most rewarding aspects of owning my business. Let's make it happen for you! We hope you will enjoy a few more captures of this beautiful wedding day at The Loft of Elements Preserved, a hidden gem in downtown Elgin, IL, catering to intimate events of 50 or less.
Happy 1st Anniversary Samantha and Luke!
