A beautiful Micro-Wedding at the Armour House, Lake Forest, IL

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

Sara Elizabeth Reddick, owner of Sara Elizabeth Weddings, and Planner/Designer more specifically, for Petit Fete Micro Weddings, created and planned a beautiful micro wedding held at The Armour House in the summer of 2020, and we were so thrilled to participate!

Honestly, we can say that we are loving all the creativity that we've seen in the tiny elopement and micro-weddings that took place last summer, fall, and again this past year. It's the perfect way to continue with your wedding plans, keep your wedding date, and celebrate with those closest to you and your family. If you choose to celebrate again later, in a bigger way, then that's wonderful. But, tiny weddings planned and curated with your style in mind, are some of the most intimate and loving weddings we've seen for a long time! We honestly hope this trend continues for a long time!

The beautiful wedding was captured by Lindsey Taylor Photography, and the floral design was created by Willrett Flower Co.. We're thrilled to say that Alex and Laura's wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings, too, here. What an honor to be part of this special day.

Hosting an intimate wedding allowed the couple to focus on their love, and their family, while being very mindful of health concerns, and the safety of those gathering with them. Even as we've reached the point where we can return to normal sized gatherings, we have to say, these intimate weddings continue to be our favorites.

Whether you choose to celebrate in a backyard wedding with 100, or an intimate event with 35, the benefits of thinking "small" allows you to focus on more design and decor details, choose food and drinks that are special to you, and most importantly, you can enjoy time with each of your guests. Tiny weddings do not mean "simple" and without details. In fact, they allow you much more flexibility to really personalize your big day, and celebrate in a meaningful way.

Here's a closer look at some of the floral details. From the ring box to the bride's sandals, the invitations, and her wedding ring, every detail was perfectly chosen to accentuate the colors and aesthetic of this wedding. We hope this blog is inspiring to you, as you see how Alex and Laura celebrated with their family! If wedding planning is in your future, please be sure to get in touch for design and decor, making your big day perfect in every way; we are available by appointment.

The colors were repeated from the flowers to china, the silk ribbon tied to each place card and the table linens all tying perfectly together making a beautiful statement for the dining table.

Let's not forget dessert; I mean, the cake from Toni Patisserie & Cafe was incredibly beautiful, and just look at the displays of cake on our vintage Limoge china.

We hope you find this blog inspiring as you plan your big day! Remember, the details matter! Be sure to include meaningful details throughout your day, and more importantly, be sure to mention those special details for your photographer to capture for lasting memories!
